Slack Miro integration: what it does, what Slackbot adds, and what it costs

Most pages about the Miro–Slack integration are marketing pages. This one explains what you can actually do from Slack, what needs extra plans, and what it costs, with examples. Sources were reviewed on September 24, 2026 and are linked at the end.
Direct answer: The Miro app for Slack lets you create a board with
/miro, get Miro notifications (mentions, comments, invites, access requests) in Slack, and grant board access without opening Miro. Editing boards happens in Miro. Since June 2026 Slackbot can also connect to Miro's MCP server and create or update board content from a Slackbot conversation, but Slackbot is only included on Slack Business+ (15 Slackbot messages per member per week) and Enterprise+; on Free and Pro it is available only during a trial or preview. Every person also connects their own Miro account, and Miro is priced per member.

Set it up
- Install Miro from the Slack Marketplace (a workspace admin may need to approve it).
- Connect your Miro profile when Slack asks.
- Choose which notifications you want in your Miro profile settings.

What it does not do
The app does not edit a board from Slack. Once the board exists, arranging shapes, drawing connectors and changing text happen in Miro. The Slack thread and the board are two places: the discussion stays in Slack, the diagram lives in Miro.
Part 2: Slackbot + Miro's MCP server
In June 2026 Slack added an MCP client to Slackbot. Miro is one of the apps whose MCP server Slackbot can use. Miro's MCP tools can read boards, create boards, add items and generate native diagrams (flowcharts, ERDs, UML class and sequence diagrams), authored as Mermaid inside SVG.
Example
You → Slackbot: Read the thread above and create a Miro board with a flowchart of the checkout flow.
Slackbot: calls Miro's MCP tools, creates the board with the diagram, and replies with a link.
Later: "Add a fraud check between Checkout and Payment on that board" — Slackbot updates the board through the same tools.

For a 25-person team on Slack Pro that wants everyone to ask Slackbot to create and edit Miro diagrams:

Your numbers will differ (monthly billing costs more; fewer editors cost less), but the structure is the point: both bills grow with every person.
When a Slack-native diagram app fits better
If the diagram is part of the engineering discussion — an architecture, a request flow, an incident timeline — you may not need a whiteboard at all.
